United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund

Agenda: Tackling the global education crisis, focusing on ensuring access to quality education for children in conflict zones and marginalized communities.

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) committee will welcome junior delegates from Grades 6 to 8 for an engaging, beginner-level exploration of one of today’s most critical global issues: the education crisis affecting children in conflict zones and marginalized communities. As wars, displacement, and poverty continue to disrupt access to schooling for millions, from Gaza and Sudan to Afghanistan and Rohingya refugee camps, delegates will be tasked with finding realistic and compassionate solutions to ensure every child receives a quality education, regardless of circumstance. Through age-appropriate yet thoughtful debate, students will examine barriers such as school infrastructure damage, teacher shortages, child labor, and gender-based discrimination. This committee will encourage young delegates to think critically about the power of education as a tool for peace, and recovery, and to propose concrete initiatives rooted in empathy and equity.
