Discover Tokyo Beyond the Conference

These are suggested locations for overseas participants who wish to explore Tokyo during their free time. While not mandatory, we encourage participants to take the opportunity to experience the rich culture, history, and energy of Tokyo.

Japan is a safe country with an incredibly efficient public transportation system, making it easy to get around. Should you choose to explore, our team will be more than happy to offer support and guidance to help plan your journey.


Please note that these visits are optional and come at an additional personal cost—they are not covered by GIIS.

Tokyo Disneyland 

A world-famous theme park filled with magic, rides, parades, and classic Disney characters. Located in nearby Chiba, it’s a must-visit for a full day of fun and adventure.

Cherry Blossom

Tokyo Skytree 

The tallest structure in Japan with breathtaking views from its observation decks. Below, you’ll find a massive shopping and dining complex, as well as a popular aquarium.

Kasai Rinkai Park

Just minutes from our school, this seaside park is great for relaxing walks, picnics, and ocean views. It features a Ferris wheel, bird sanctuary, and the Tokyo Sea Life Park aquarium.

Shibuya

Home to the famous Shibuya Crossing, one of the busiest intersections in the world. It’s a hub for shopping, dining, and taking photos with the Hachiko statue.

Akihabara

The center of anime, manga, and gaming culture. Explore electronics stores, themed cafés, arcades, and collectables. A favorite for pop culture lovers!

Sensō-ji

Tokyo’s oldest and most iconic temple. Walk through the vibrant Nakamise shopping street filled with snacks and souvenirs, then enjoy the temple’s historic charm.

Nezu Shrine 

A peaceful and traditional shrine known for its beautiful paths and tunnel of red torii gates. It’s especially charming during the summer when it’s surrounded by greenery.

Meiji Shrine

A peaceful Shinto shrine located in a forested area near the trendy Harajuku district. Walk through towering torii gates, enjoy the calming atmosphere, and experience traditional Japanese culture right in the heart of the city.

Tokyo

Yokohama

A stunning port city just outside Tokyo. Visit the Yokohama Chinatown, stroll through Minato Mirai, or enjoy waterfront views from the Cosmo World Ferris wheel.
