Social Humanitarian and Cultural Committee
Agenda: Regulating the Use of Government Censorship as a Tool of Political Repression and Conflict Manipulation
The Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Committee (SOCHUM) focuses on global human rights, social inequalities, and how state actions affect vulnerable communities. This agenda looks at how governments use censorship to silence dissent, control political narratives, and shape public perception during unrest or conflict. Delegates will examine when censorship becomes unethical or unlawful and discuss safeguards to prevent it from hiding abuses or manipulating conflict outcomes.
